Registration

Bemidji Area Schools serves the city of Bemidji and surrounding communities, including Solway, Tenstrike, Becida, Turtle River, Wilton, Puposky, Laporte and parts of Cass Lake. To determine your assigned school, please refer to our attendance zone map: attendance zones (username: guest password: guest). 

Before completing the application, please have the following documents ready:

• If registering for kindergarten will need to complete an early childhood screening.
• Child's Birth Certificate: Official proof of your child's age.
• Immunization Records: Documentation showing your child is up to date on required vaccinations.
• Proof of Residence: A utility bill, rental agreement, or mortgage documents.
• Parent/Guardian Photo Identification: A valid government-issued ID.
• Custody Documents (if applicable): Court orders or legal documentation regarding custody arrangements.

A parent or legal guardian who resides with relatives or friends within ISD #31 and who wishes to send a child to an ISD #31 school must submit a Residency Affidavit Form in person and accompanied by the relative or friend in which their residing with. Along with the signed form, the relative or friend must provide a photo identification card and official resident’s primary proof of residence (see acceptable proof above).

NOTE: Bemidji Public School District reserves the right to deny enrollment if it believes falsification of information has taken place or the student does not live at the residence stated in the registration paperwork. A home visit may be made if residency cannot be established to the district’s satisfaction.

The Bemidji Area Schools American Indian Education Program supports students by providing academic, cultural, and social resources to help them succeed. The program fosters a sense of belonging while celebrating American Indian heritage and traditions.

Eligible families are encouraged to complete the American Indian Education paperwork available on the American Indian Education Program web page and on the last page of the enrollment packet.

If you're interested in enrolling your child in a school outside of your attendance zones (username: guest, password: guest), please complete the Out of Area Request Form. Students must first be enrolled before an out of attendance request can be processed.

Please be aware that transportation is not available for students living outside the assigned attendance area.

Principals will review requests and assess availability in late August to determine if there is space to accommodate your request. Thank you for your understanding!

Open Enrollment

An open enrollment application is necessary when a student is living outside the district boundaries and would like to enroll in Bemidji Area Schools.To apply, students must complete both the Open Enrollment Request Form and also register using one of the options above.
